SEC & Big 12 showcase huge match-ups in this week’s NCAA action

(New York, NY) October 20, 2005 – Sportsbook.com has posted odds on a potential Rose Bowl match-up between the USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns, currently ranked first and second in the nation respectively. USC is listed as an early 6.5 point favorite.

Week 8 in the NCAA football season features three highly touted games between ranked SEC and Big 12 teams, and Sportsbook.com is offering the latest odds on all the gridiron action.

In a battle of the undefeated, the 10th ranked Texas Tech Red Devils, 6-0, roll into Austin to battle the 2nd ranked Texas Longhorns, 6-0, for first place in the Big 12 South division. Sportsbook.com lists the Longhorns as -15 point favorites, but the Red Devils boast the highest scoring offense in the nation and will not be easy to beat. The Longhorns’ 3rd ranked defense will be in tough against a Red Devils’ passing attack that is logging 472.33 yards per game.

Still reeling from their loss to Georgia on October 8, the Tennessee Volunteers will clash with undefeated SEC rival Alabama. The 5th ranked Crimson Tide is anxious to keep its perfect season and Rose Bowl hopes alive with a victory over the freefalling Vols. Sportsbook.com lists Alabama as the -3.5 point favorite over a Tennessee squad riddled with injuries.

Also meeting this weekend in a must-see SEC showdown is 7th ranked LSU at home to 16th ranked Auburn. LSU, 4-1, is listed by Sportsbook.com as the -6 point favorite over Auburn, 5-1. The home side has won the last 5 meetings between these two SEC powerhouses.

“Everyone will be watching the battle for Texas because of the huge implications it will have on the national championship picture”, said Peter Childs, Oddsmaker, Sportsbook.com. “The Longhorns and Red Devils are apt to put on a high-scoring offensive display.”

In other PAC 10 action, top ranked USC, 6-0, should have an easy time extending its two-year winning streak when the Trojans visit the hapless Washington Huskies, 1-5. The USC Trojans are listed as -30 point favorites.
