Slotland.com Novice Bowling Tournaments Begin This Weekend in Vancouver, Canada

September 21, 2005 (Vancouver, BC) – Amateur bowling tournaments sponsored by online slot machine giant, Slotland.com, begin this weekend at Dell Lanes in Surrey, BC, Canada and continue through the fall in the Vancouver area and in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Slotland.com is providing more than $3,200 in cash and prizes. The first of four house matches in the Vancouver area will be held at Dell Lanes, Surrey on September 24th. The Vancouver series continues at REVS in Maple Ridge on October 2nd and then in Vancouver at Grandview Lanes October 30th and Varsity Ridge October 16th. The winning team from each house match will win $300 and advance to the regional Vancouver play-off on November 6th where they’ll compete for an additional $500 Grand Prize.

A similar series is being sponsored in Winnipeg, Manitoba beginning October 16th.

The tournament is specifically designed to appeal to novice bowlers – players that haven’t yet experienced the thrill of competition. To qualify, bowlers must have an average of under 150, although each three-member team can have one more experienced player with an average up to 190.

“At Slotland.com, we enjoy bringing a little excitement into people’s lives,” explains Hannah Morante from Slotland.com’s headquarters. “The idea is to give amateur bowlers their first taste of competition.”

Tammy Morin, the manager at Grandview Lanes, Vancouver said: “Novice bowling doesn’t usually get this kind of attention. Lots of our bowlers play slots too, so everyone thinks the association with Slotland.com is kind of cool.”

“We get a lot of seniors here, and I think they’re going to love this!” said Tom Cooper at Dell Lanes, Surrey.

Hannah Morante says it is the success of an ongoing sponsorship of a Canadian curling team that led to supporting another novice sport. “Gerry Guerts and his team have Olympic dreams, and we love to make dreams come true.”
