Exclusive Mayfair Poker Club to Open in London

October 5, 2005 (London, UK) – An up market, member’s only poker club is set to open its doors in Mayfair, central London, in early 2006. The Fox Poker Club, as it will be called, has applied to the Gaming Board of Great Britain for a Casino License which will make it London’s first fully licensed card room.

The club will become the first licensed stand-alone-card-room in Britain when it opens its doors early next year. The Fox Poker Club plans to have one of the largest card rooms in London offering absolute comfort in the surroundings of a listed Georgian townhouse. A dedicated “Platinum Room”, with full TV studio facilities, will be available to Platinum Members and their guests. The Platinum Room will host high stakes no-limit cash games, and will be the location of the final table for major tournaments. Fox Poker Club Members will be able watch these games live from the comfort of the bar and lounge area on state of the art flat-screen televisions.

With limited membership, poker enthusiasts who are interested in joining are encouraged to express their interest in a pre-registration form on the club’s website www.foxclubpoker.com.

The poker club will be situated next door to its sister club, The Fox Club, which is an exclusive private members club. Both clubs are housed in elegant five-storey Georgian townhouses, which date back to the 1800s when Charles Fox, whom the clubs are named after, resided there. Fox was a leading Whig Politician, and a well-known gambler!

The club will be run by a group of enthusiasts who have a track record in the gaming industry. Club founder Chris North said, “We wanted to open a club dedicated to poker that was legally allowed to offer the full range of Poker properly regulated and in a secure environment.” Fellow founder Brian Mattingley added, “The Fox Poker Club is owned and run by poker fans, for poker fans and we aim to make it the number one destination of choice for the capital’s poker players.”
