Bodog Sponsors Event Hosted by James Denton of Desperate Housewives

August 19, 2005 – Los Angeles – Desperate Housewives star James Denton will host a private party for Bronson Arroyo, pitcher of the World Series winning Boston Red Sox, to help celebrate the release of Arroyo’s successful debut album Covering The Bases (Asylum Records/WEA), at the legendary Red Sox bar Sonny McLean’s in Santa Monica on Saturday, August 20 at 8 p.m.

Denton is an avid baseball fan who first met and befriended Arroyo during a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show. The event will include a live performance by Arroyo with scheduled guests Mike Inez (Alice In Chains) and respected session player Kenny Aronoff (Mellencamp, Etheridge). Denton, also an accomplished guitarist, will jam with Arroyo on a few songs. Additional celebrity guests and members of the Red Sox Nation are expected to attend.

The event, which is presented by GNC’s new Kore energy drink and online gaming powerhouse Bodog, will also include a Silent Auction to help raise funds for The Red Sox Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the team which is committed to improving health, education, recreation and social service programs within urban communities in the greater New England area. The nonprofit Red Sox Foundation has generated more than $8 million over the past three years from the team’s fans and supporters, enabling the charity start-up to become the largest sports foundation in all of Major League Baseball. Joining Bronson at the event will be other members of the Boston Red Sox team to support this fundraiser on behalf of the Red Sox Foundation.

“Bronson is a hugely valuable member of the team, both on and off the field, and his music is as extraordinary as his pitching talent,” says Meg Vaillancourt, Red Sox Foundation Executive Director. “We are honored to have his generous support for the team’s charity, as the funds raised from this event will help children and families in need across the Red Sox Nation.”

Arroyo surprised many with his extreme vocal power on Covering The Bases, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and #123 on the Billboard 200. The project pays tribute to his favorite artists and songs of the 90’s including Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Alice In Chains among others, and features an All-Star line up of backing musicians and special guests including Mike Inez , novelist Stephen King and heavyweight session players Kenny Aronoff, Tim Pierce (Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen), Leland Sklar (James Taylor, Jackson Browne) and Mike Landau (Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt). Arroyo’s Red Sox co-champs also get in the team spirit with featured cameos by Johnny Damon, Kevin Youkilis, Lenny DiNardo and General Manager Theo Epstein. The project was produced by Loren Harriet (Bernie Williams).

Sonny McLean’s is the official Red Sox watering hole of the greater Los Angeles area, which is regularly frequented by members of the Boston Red Sox and the Red Sox Nation. Founder Sonny McLean, a true Irishman known for his love of good times, good pints and good friends, dedicated the pub for all those with a love of Boston, the Irish and the Red Sox. The spirit of Sonny McLean lives on with his grandson, Jim Conners, the proud new owner who keeps this vision in tact.
