Slotland.com Renews Sponsorship of Olympic Hopefuls

November 7, 2005 (St Mary’s, Ontario, Canada) – Slotland.com is pleased to announce that they have renewed their sponsorship of an Ontario curling team for a second year. “Team Slotland.com”, as the team has come to be known, will be competing this weekend in the St. Mary’s Cashspiel, an annual event organized by two Team Slotland players.

“We’re in the business of making dreams come true,” said Hannah Morante of Slotland. “These young men have dreams of making it to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, and we’re happy to do what we can to help them achieve that goal.”

Last season, funding from Slotland.com enabled the team to compete in more tournaments than they could afford to attend the year before, giving them the kind of experience they need to become serious Olympic contenders.

“All the extra competition last year really helped us tune our game,” said Gerry Geurts. “Rob Lamont, our Second, sprained his wrist playing baseball just days before the curling season started this year, so we didn’t start off that great. But we’ve been serious contenders our last few times out, and if we improve as much through this season as we did last year, Team Slotland could be the team to beat!”

When he’s not practicing or competing, Geurts is the webmaster behind CurlingZone.com, the official web site of the Ontario Curling Tour. And as if that’s not enough to keep the young father busy, he and teammate Rob Lamont are also the event coordinators for the annual Cashspiel this weekend in St. Mary’s.

“The curling community has given me a lot,” says Guerts of all the contributions he makes. “It’s a lot of work, but I like to feel that I’m giving something back.”

The St Mary’s Cashspiel will be Team Slotland.com’s fourth outing of the season. The annual event takes place November 10 to 13 at the St. Mary’s Curling Club. Team Slotland.com will be competing for a $7000 purse.

Team Slotland.com’s scores, schedule, player profiles and more are available on their team page at CurlingZone.com.

Renowned for their award-winning customer service, and well known for having such large and frequently hit progressive jackpots, Slotland.com is also known as one of the more philanthropic companies in the gambling business. In addition to the curling team sponsorship, Slotland.com is also sponsoring amateur bowling tournaments in Vancouver and Winnipeg this fall. Perhaps it’s most generous sponsorship, however, is the school that they are building and giving to a small, impoverished village in Malawi.
